The sea in Almuñecar is clean. As well as the 1 km long beach there are many little coves and small beaches down the coast. A car is not necessary but if you do have one there are many interesting places to explore on the coast. Even if you don't have a car just persuade Matias, Santi or one of the teachers to take you out in the afternoon.
There are also regular organised excursions to places of interest. It may be necessary to pay for some excursions but the idea is to cover expenses not to make a profit.
In the summer there are flowers everywhere in Almuñécar. There is a very pleasant park in the centre which has a tree collection with countless different varieties of palm trees.

50 years ago Almuñecar must have been an absolute paradise. It still is in many ways and has not been ruined by overdevelopment.
This is the promenade. Almuñecar is the favourite holiday destination for the Granadinos because it is only 45 minutes from Granada by car. There are 5 buses each way every day between Granada and Almuñecar.
