Almuñécar: Introduction

Map of Almuñecar The idea of the courses in Almuñecar is to provide both an enjoyable holiday and a rich environment for learning Spanish. When you finish your course you will be relaxed, tanned, fit and your level of Spanish should have taken a giant leap forward plus you will have made many new friends from all over the world.

In the morning we learn Spanish in a classroom setting. Afterwards you have many options for leisure and having a good time. In the afternoon we organise cultural activities and excursions. There is lively nigtlife in Almueñcar with plenty of oportunity for meeting Spanish people.

seaAlmuñécar is a pleasant seaside town. As opposed to other places on the coast nearer to Malaga it has not been ruined by mass development and high rise blocks. Almuñecar does not attract the typical beer swilling English hooligans, who demand fish and chips and beer in pint glasses. It is principally a Spanish resort and it still retains a lot of its original charming character. The sandy beach is 1 kilometre long. We offer you the possibility to combine a course in Granada with Almuñécar as second place of study; for example 14 days in Granada and 14 days in Almuñécar.

Map of AlmuñecarThe town of Almuñécar was founded by the Phoenicians two thousands years ago, 76 km from Granada and 85 km from Malaga. It is situated in a tropical valley on the so-called "Costa Tropical" where the average temperature is 18°C during the winter and 26°C during the summer. Even bananas and papayas grow here.

Almuñécar In the afternoons there are many opportunities to practice sports. There are several reasonably priced places where you can do windsurfing, diving, sailing etc. The thermals in this area are especially good for para-gliding. If you just want the thrill of jumping off a cliff you could try a tandem flight with an experienced flyer.

The sea water is clean and safe and it is perfect for snorkelling. Beach volleyball is very popular. There are tennis courts available if you want.
